Title: Which is the Torque Converter pressure Hose side??
Post by: 68AutoBug on May 12, 2004, 11:34:27 AM

I have been having major problems while restoring My 68 Auto Stick Beetle... I have a Bad vibration coming from the toque converter..
The original torque converter did the same when I connected it up..
Now, I'm wondering which is the pressure side of the housing where the two hoses go onto...  The TOP or the Bottom Hose... Mine is going to the top fitting...   Its strange actually, as My Pressure line uses hose clamps and barbed hose fittings and the return [low pressure] Line uses screwed on hose fittings....  I'm just wondering whether some one got them mixed up...   mainly Me...
Any one help Me ??   URGENT..
The pressure side of the ATF Pump is the LHSide pipe which goes across & up vertically and attaches to a hose that goes to the Torque Converter Housing...  My return line is at the bottom - next to the ATF Heat switches.

I think I have the hoses in the correct places...  it looks like this torque converter is damaged internally, same as the original one..
I damaged the original one, I didn't know there were 2 sets of splines to align before bolting it up...  I had a spare that I bought many years ago..
it seems it was no good too....   I'll have to find another one now...
