Hello everyone!

Quick question: what engine sizes were made for the 1970 AS Beetles? Where they all 1600?

Any help is appreciated!

Hiya kook,

Hmmmm............interesting question.

In 1970 VW made 1200, 1300, 1500 and 1600 engines.  As far as I know, the only engine combined with the AutoStick for sale in North America was the B6 series 1600 single port.  But I could well be wrong about that.

Anybody in North America out there with an AutoStick (of course in its original configuration) mated up to a D, F, or H series engine?

Yes,
Autostick beetles were sold in UK & Europe with 1300 & 1500 or 1600 engines.
I don't think the 1200 was ever used in an Autostick beetle.
in 1970 there were probably 1300 & 1500 Beetles in the UK Europe and Australia.
I believe 1600 single port engines were sold in 1970 beetles in North America..
in 1971, there was the dual port 1600 in the 1302S Superbeetle
and 1300 in the Non Super beetle in Australia and other countries.

The `1200 engine was sold in Europe including UK in most years, even in the late 70's..

Sorry I didn't see this one earlier, but yes, I have an Autostick mated up with an H series engine, however it is a 1969 model.  This came as a 1500 SP engine.

Vehicle ID # 119598112

Engine # H5712469

I've since rebuilt the engine, but used the original case to keep the two mated together.
