Ok, I thought I had this 1974 Auto-stick finally working right, and so got in, started out driving. Got about 5 minutes into the drive, when I shifted to 3rd it just revved up motor and would not go anywhere? I stopped it and then tryed shifting to ANY GEAR, It just moved around to all spots of shifting, but would not go anywhere? I pushed it back home, and next day got out, started it, and everything seemed fine? I am now afraid to drive anywhere that I cant push it back, lol.
WHAT HAPPENED ANYONE???

skatevw,
Low cost and High effort options.  1st things first is check your ATF level and whether is smells burnt.
Look carefully and check whether you can see ATF seeping/leaking.
Check your entire vacuum system for leaks.

Probably best to drop the engine and drop the trans. It'll cost you a new trans seal (maybe). Separate the bell housing from the trans and have a look at the plate. You'll be up for GB oil (two nuts inside GB case means pan off) as well as some form of Dexron ATF. A lot of cursing and swearing are no-charge :o  .

Re-assembly is another matter entirely - DO NOT REMOVE THE CLUTCH ARM off the trans!

Not much help but that slipping sounds heat/oil related.
