Well
the engine is out again..
this time the gearbox Is out and the replacement Is ready to go in..
I'm looking at replacing the pushrod tubes and seals..
I did have a small leak somewhere on the LHS of the engine
it only leaked when being driven
I was thinking oil cooler seals but they are OK...
I degreased the engine before and after taking it out
so there is No indication of where the leak is/was??

Maybe one of the inner LHS pushrod seals was leaking at the top, when oil was flowing thru it when the engine was going

Howz about the cylinder head studs, they'll leak sometimes, too.  I used the same sealant on those threads that I used to seal the case halves.  Permatex Aircraft IIRC.

I also used that same sealant on the pushrod tube seals.

Is that Permatex Aviation Non hardening gasket Cement No 3.???

thats what i've been using for many years...

it originally was Aviation jointing cement...

but the permatex smells the same...

Affirmative.  The stuff is great.

Sorry about the netspeak.  I forget we have non-U.S.-English speakers and non-native English speakers on here, I get sloppy.

Well, I found where My oil leak was...
the top of one of the pushrod tube seals was cut in half
as it must have moved as I pushed the head on last time...

One of the heads was loose...
the nuts didn't have much tension on them at all on one side... 3-4
so the head has been worn where it sits on the cylinder...

so I'm thinking of changing to Dual port...
last time I replaced a head, I decided to stick to single port..
and I'm really pleased with the performance of the single port engine...
