Where are the Control Valve and the Vaccum pump on a 1971 Ghia located? ???

Hiya 007,

I'm not a KG owner but I'm pretty sure you'll find the control valve in the upper left (as you look at the engine compartment from the rear) of the engine compartment.  Vaccum pump?  Could you possibly be referring to the clutch servo?  If so, the clutch servo lives on a bracket attached to the left hand side of the transaxle.  You'll have to crawl under the car to take a look.

Perhaps Airhead will chime in here.  He has a 71 KG in beautiful shape.

Yes
the control valve is located on the LHS of the engine bay
there is an adjusting screw on the top
but don't touch it until You need to
and know what the problem is..

there is No vacuum pump
vacuum is taken from under the carburetor
and is stored in the vacuum tank on the LHS of the engine
[its under the LHS rear fender in beetles]

the clutch servo is located on the LHS of the gearbox
and it operates the clutch with vacuum from the vacuum tank.

all this is controlled by the Control Valve - Vacuum and electric.

cheers
