Hi all - just joined and have purchased a 1975 1303 Chocolate Autostick.
It's great!
I live in the UK and was wondering if there was any mechanic who could service the car as well as any place I could obtain parts? I know Autostick's aren't too favoured over here for mending!
Thanks,
Richard
Hi,
Where abouts in the UK are you?
Im also in the UK would be interesting to find out where other AS owners are Im in Sheffield (once known as the City of Steel now known as
the City of Retail Shopping aka Meadowhall ::)

I'm over near Norwich, I use a guy over at Swaffham for all the bits I can't do and he really knows his stuff.
I'm based in Birmingham. LOL@ Sheffield, although Park Hill's looking good!
Swaffham could be an option - although it is quite far - however, got to find that right person who knows their autosticks!
To be honest Ive found that learning to do the work on these cars yourself is best with help from people on this site and
its part of the enjoyment of ownership there will be very few VW mechanics who understand the workings of the AS
though some will say they do and balls it up.
Park Hill - yeah what a joke thats become, preserved by English Heritage as a European Landmark, sold by Sheffield Council to
developers that told a good story but didnt have any money so the council agreed to lend them the money d'oh - now stood empty
like a blot on the landscape ???

hi mate
there are two really good people ive used on my car a 67 semi auto, one is based at silverstone and is called rob,the company is rnj motorsport(aircooled specialists),he advertises on vzi and ultra vw magazine
the other guy is a mobile mech who works on aircooled stuff,he is really good and well reasonable for pricing(£25 per hour),he is called chris and is based in cambs, but will travel about 100 miles to people
hope this help, any more info, feel free to email me,good luck jason
p.s.it would be pretty cool if we could arrange a meet, get all the uk semi autos together, come on guys what do you think???
You'll have to wait a while, mines not been on the road since the 80's and I can't see it being sorted until late this year.
Any luck with finding part suppliers in the UK for Autosticks.. ???
I am looking for a clutch and repair to my torque convertor
You'll be lucky to find a supplier for a new clutch plate in the UK but should find one in the U.S EVW? I have 3 or 4 in various states of wear, Whats wrong with your torque convertor I do know of a company that re-furbishes/repairs them, they literally open them up carry out any repairs and put them back together, PM me if you want the details.

Torque convertor is no problem I am having it reconditioned :) the clutch however is much harder to locate. I think if I can't get a new one with a little love the one I have can be reused. But I will be in touch if not. Where are you?
It would have been nice to replace it while its all in bits.
Hopefully it will all be back together by the time we go away in July....!
Its been and uphill struggle as I have been restoring this car since last year with this event in mind so I hope we get there.
Hi
Thanks for all your responses! J Pickering - can you send me 'Chris from Cambs' 'phone number, please? Have tried a lot of folk up here, but all are unwilling to touch it! Aaaargh!!!!
Hi Everyone
Ive just sold my '68 semi auto and have a load of parts if you need anything let me know (I got a full replacement set of bits, just in case...) including 2 spare g/boxes.
I'm in Nottingham and would prefer they went to someone on here before going on ebay etc...
This is also open to non uk by the way! just shipping could be expensive for you.
Cheers
Tez ;D
