Hi Folks,
well is starting to warm up here in Australia [Southern Hemisphere]
but its taking its time which is just great..
still cool enough to drive My Beetle at the moment..
and still getting 15c at night... Excellent..
I have My engine lid open at the top already..
to help keep the engine bay cool...
I've fitted some new finned alloy tappet covers and chrome bails..
and no leaks... lol
My Genie extractors and thunderbird muffler are working great..
My Bosch SVDA Distributor is the best thing yet....
It is just so much better than the 009 Distributor...
Better fuel economy too....
Its just sooooo smoooooth.... when You take off....
and the rear wheels spin in gravel much easier than before....
I have just fitted a new non VW fusebox on top of the hole where the old fusebox was..
I got the wires mixed up when changing over...
and when I rewired the beetle about 8 years ago....
I used whatever colored wire I could buy...
so, there were all these wires... lots of reds, blacks, yellow, blue, brown and green...
and no idea where they were supposed to go... lol
so, out came the headlamp and hazard switches
so I could number the wires with the number on the switches...
I have finally finished that, and I've been driving with the low beam headlamps and tail lamps
attached to the ignition... and the blinkers, stop lamps and horn all work OK...
I just have to fit the headlamp relay which won't be a big job...
but all the wires under the bonnet ... as I have a seperate wire for everything...
plus 3 heavy wires bringing power from the battery... plus relays...
for foglamps and driving lamps..
I have been extending and shortening wires so, I will be able [I hope]
to make them look much better... lol
or I could just put carpet over them... lol ;D ;D like before...

I put a similar sump on my engine, but quit using it because it took 3 hands to
install it! :P

Yes, its a bit difficult...
One time I used a jack to jack the sump onto the studs... lol
but usually I just push it up and put one nut on a thread and do it up with fingers...
then I put another nut on the opposite side and do it up...
I then tighten them slightly with a socket on a screwdriver type handle
then I put the washers & nuts on the others and do them up
then I take the original two nuts off and put washers on those threads and then the nuts and go around all the nuts
slightly increasing each time..
I use permatex on both sides of the gasket..
there is some pressure there from the spring... lol which make it difficult..
