Title: retiming my 69AS
Post by: Jeff54Griffin on 04 April 2012, 15:59
I just changed out my 009 for a 205P with electronic module and timed it to 2nd notch btdc idle with vac disconnected and it has changed the running of my engine. The day after retiming the idle speed is higher and the top end is flat, looses spunk at 60ish up. Like I have too much advance. The 009 had terrible low end but the engine had good spunk at top end.   From the start the 205P it is very spunky.  What is the CORRECT way to time my 1776 SP with new h30/31 and the 205P.  The main jet is 130

I can't afford aircooled.net svda yet.
Thanks,
Jeff

Hi
I can't remember what the 205P is apart from having vacuum advance..
try it at the first mark..
I have an alloy pulley with the timing marks all way round it..
and with the SVDA which I presume is similar to Your 205P
I set it at 7.5 degrees before TDC..
so the first mark may be 7.5 and the second at TDC  ??
Sean is an expert on Distributors.. hopefully he can answer Your question..
but reading Your post again... I believe You have it timed at TDC..
so, taking it to the 1st mark should be the one... 7.5 Degrees BTDC
and it shouldn't run out of steam...

cheers
