69 ghia autostick runs and drives nice paint inside, needs exterior and clutch. 3500.
I looking at buying this car for resale
I had a type 1 autostick I parted out years ago in a small town, the autostick I sold to a shop for $1500. I'm thinking this a good car to resell but I don't know. What is the going rate? I own a 69 type 1 that I have had for 20 years and just been maintaining that one. I have no idea about prices on autostick these days.

Your question about the value of a 69 AS Ghia is difficult to answer for a variety of reasons.
1. The given value of any vehicle will depend to a considerable extent on the location of that vehicle.
2. Ghias are a little tougher to set a price on. They tend to run higher than comparably equipped Bugs.
3. The real roadblock is in the description of the car. You'd really need to know exactly what the seller means by "needs a new clutch". Some AS clutch components (NOS) are difficult to locate and others are darn near impossible. Expect prices on these parts (if you can find them) to reflect their scarcity.
Given what I have already noted and assuming the worst clutchwise, I'd say that $3500 is a too steep. If the clutch were in operating shape, maybe $2750. But do realize that this is just one person's opinion; so take it for what it might be worth. Do be very careful with examining the clutch before money changes hands though.
