Title: Shift Shaft Part

I'm looking to acquire either an original or a suitable replacement for the spring, item no. 12, shown here:

Part no. 113 713 367 A.  This spring is unique to autosticks...it looks an awful lot like one of the springs you find in drum brake rebuild kits.

Any ideas where I could find one...or what this spring is for?

          It is used to tension the shift lever to one side. It hooks through an eyelet on your coupler (Can't remember exactly where) and the other end is hooked to the bottom of the tunnel.
Have a look in the tunnel! Some slacker may have unhooked it and not bothered to retrieve it!

Hiya Larry,

I have a spare 113 713 367A.  It will function (as Sean mentions above) as designed.  However, this is the original spring that was in my car.  I replaced my shift rod and got another spring in better shape.  This spring is almost to original specs (same tensile strength for sure) but it is showing wear at one hook-end.  I'm sure it will function quite well for a while.  However, if I were in your shoes, I'd take this spring and find a suitable replacement at a good hardware store.  I'm sure that can be done.

Mike - how can I refuse an offer like that?  Thanks so much.  I'll drop you an email for the particulars on how to get it to me.

I am ashamed to say the 'slacker' you refer to might be me...anyway my spring is long gone.

I was pretty meticulous on the tear down of the Ghia, bagging and tagging nearly all the parts.  I found the clip and the thru-bolt bagged together but the spring wasn't with them.

The thru-bolt actually has a drilled tab for a head in place of a hex.  That's where the upper end of the spring hooks in.

When I find a decent replacement I'll post up the 'specs' as a reference for all.
