Hi im looking for torque converter bushings for my auto type 3 veriant gearbox and my auto stick beetle i hope some one can help me? but if not any information on were i can get them would be most welcome any way hoping you can help all the best Phil ;)
Hi Phil,
I checked at evwparts and woe betide, they don't have a listing for the bushes. They had the support tube inner bush and TC inner bush last year, but no more. I would still definitely ask the question of them.
Another shot is to PM Crasher (Steve). He went above and beyond to reco his G'box and he's in the UK. He may have leads on some or could steer you in the right direction. For the type 3 one, PM Nbturbo as he had his box smoked over for the monsta donk in his car (although in Aus). Next up is try the crews at www.volksbahn.com.au and www.stokerssiding.com.au (? I think). They seem to have hidden treasures galore and worth a shot.
Last one is to get them machined up. You'll find lot's of bearing places generally market a few companies' ready made or custom bushes.
Regards
Sean
Hi Sean thanks for the help i did try evwparts but they told me they are obsolete now and some one should start making them :(
I'll give the other links a try but I'm going to take my torque converters around to some local auto shops to see if they have or can get some thing that will fit i know the type3 box is very similar to the Audi 100 and the Mk1 golf auto boxes so perhaps they may share the same type of bushings the same might be true for the porche sportamatic and the beetle auto stick so we will see thanks again all the best phil ;)
Phil,
Long Enterprise still list a TC bush for an S-A. www.longenterprises.com . You could also email
www.german-transaxle.com and ask if they can help.
Regards
Sean
Thanks Sean Ive emailed German transaxle but they have nothing for the auto stick or type 3 but i will give longenterprises a go all the best Phil ;D
I'm guessing the bushes on torque converters would all be similar ??
so the material would be common?
I'll have to look at My Spare torque converter..
wouldn't the bushes last a very long time if sitting in ATF..
