Hiya All,
While I was cruising through e-Bay I ran into this auction................
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Nos-VW-Beetle-Bug-Ghia-AUTOSTICK-Vacum-Servo-Repair-Kit_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ34208QQihZ005QQitemZ150264202558QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Now at the time I'm writing this the bid (0 bids in) is $8.00 and there is NO reserve. This looks to be a complete repair kit with the metal constrictor band included. Shipping to any point in the States is $6.00 and they will ship internationally. I do not know nor am I endorsing these sellers. Matter of fact, I had never even heard of these guys until I found this auction.
Even more interesting is that when visiting their website I found that they while they do have these kits in stock they want $129.95 for each one. I would suggest that you take a look at this auction and then visit their site. I'm thinking that somebody out there in AS Land might pick up a very good deal on this auction.
Hiya All,
Update.................
With just short of five days left in this auction the low bid remains at $8.00. This could be a great buy even if the bid doubles.
Hmmm,
I got massively outbid for the last one they stuck on e-bay...but ya got to be in it to win it and No...I'm not bidding on this one. Other fish to fry at the moment....

Less than a day left in this auction. Two bids registered. Now at $14.51. Still a heckuva deal.
Gasp! 77.10 US! the last one went for 55...better than paying retail at the moment from them :o.

Hiya All,
It appears that BugCity is going to use e-Bay to auction off more than just one of these servo repair kits.
It might payoff for you to keep an eye on these auctions for servo repair kits if you are in need of one. True, the last one went stratospheric, but in the future this just might be a good place to score one for cheap.
these are still popping up on ebay...
they must have boxes of them.... lol

I noticed on my '71 convertable the outside band on the rebuild kit adds just enough width to leave only
a hairsbreadth of space between it and the floorpan, but I've had no trouble with this. Everything down there is a bit tight! :)
OMG. This price is steep seeing as how I just bought one last Tuesday for $29.99 at a local foregin car place in Dallas!!!
Hiya Monk,
Welcome to VWAR.
Prices on servo rebuild kits have been all over the place in the past couple of years. It used to be that servo rebuild kits were readily available and could be had for less than $20US. However, for some reason the company that had been manufacturing these kits stopped production around 2004. Inventory went out the door and prices went WAY up. It was not uncommon to see these kits selling for well over $100US. People started making the rubber diaphragm on their own. With the prices going this high apparently some company decided it was time to get back in the market or somebody discover a big stash of unsold kits. Whatever the actual case, with new kits on the market the price came down. But it seems that not everybody knows that. You can now find prices as low as yours (and if lucky, even lower) or prices still hovering around the $100 mark. All for basically the same kit. It does pay to do a little homework before buying.
Check out the sticky under the parts section. I've got four links for rebuild kits that range from $23 to $49.
