i bought a auto trans awhile back at a bug in, thinking it was cool and different for a trike. News to me, the parts are rather expensive. well i have found a guy near me that can resurface clutch disc, brake shoes, etc. but i have to have the dimensions to tell him to surface to. I was wondering if any of y'all had this random bit of information on hand. thanks in advanced.
Triker Tim.
Hi Tim,
Welcome to the board!
Well, a few posts down is one called "clutch problems" by AutomaticSamba and in there is about as far as we got with actual measurements. You could try Joe at EVWPARTS and see if he'd measure a brand new new for you. Failing that you could see if your local Exedy clutch place has their part number in stock (listed in the post I've mentioned) and measure it there. Do tell all if you get that measurement ;D.
A few other things for you. Jody on this board also has a trike, and he knows two guys that have Auto-Stick trikes too (they were on the old board) so there's a couple of resources for both trikes and Auto-Sticks in one package.
One of the things about the majority of A-S's is that they really wear incredibly slowly. Both Mike and I have discs from high mileage cars and the discs are only about 1/3rd worn if that. In a Trike I would expect less wear due to the featherlight weight so long as abuse is kept to a minimum. First gear in a 4 speed Trike is virtually wasted, so a 3 speed A-S is a viable option IMHO.
That being said, they are all getting older and they aren't bullet proof.
Enjoy

thanks alot for the information. It's helped out alot from what i've looked at. I haven't got time to search through all of it tonight but if and when i find the dimensions i'll be sure to inform y'all.
thanks again

Yes, the clutch plates wear very very slowly
as they are either In or out...
no slippage like a normal clutch..
cheers
