Help me, I have a problem. There is very little redeemable about this vehicle, but I still want it. The only things that I could really use would be the engine, transmission and wheels. Stop me.
Hiya War,
Are you close to the point of sale? Have a way to transport it?
If both answers are yes, go for it. An engine and tranny (with all the electrical and vacuum components) is worth way more than 300 odd dollars.
It does look like it needs a bunch of work though................but that's usually the trade-off for a lower price.
Let us know how it goes!
It's about 100 miles away. I'd have to pull the tires off my bug and put them on this one and towbar it home. What do you think it's max value would be?
Wait, you're supposed to be talking me out of this.
Hiya War,
Total value? That's going to depend (at least to an extent) on whether or not that engine can be made to fire up and run reasonably well. So, from that angle it's a bit of a crapshoot. However, when you consider that you could (if you were so inclined) part it out and sell parts on an individual basis, then it becomes more and more financially attractive.
I have a rule of thumb from which I have not deviated and it has served me well. Namely, I will not spend over $500 for a non-running car. That $500 would be exclusive of any costs (like trailering, etc.) to get it to my place. So, if it were me, I certainly would not go over that $500 limit. And I'd try to get it for as cheap as possible - that goes without saying though, doesn't it?
Looks like a parts car from the pic's. I wouldn't that there's at least 500 in parts there.
War,
What part of Ohio are you in? I'm in Beaver, PA. Not far from the Ohio border.
I'm located in Southeastern Ohio on the Ohio River. I'm about an hour south of Marietta, OH.
