Some have called me crazy but, Thursday afternoon I flew out of Tampa airport to Detroit and picked up my first Karmann Ghia.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I drove it back to the Tampa Bay area, running 60 to 65 miles an hour, and completing 400 miles or so each day. The car performed flawlessly and the transmission worked pretty much as designed. No leaks, only the common abrupt movement into low or reverse. From reading this forum it seems I may be able to adjust and improve the low/reverse shift quality. I averaged 36 MPG on the flat terrain, and 31 MPG in the hilly country. Yes it was a very hot ride in the car, but I enjoyed every minute of it. My baby is now asleep in garage enjoying a much deserved rest. I am a very happy camper!
I post this message as encouragement to any prospective autostick buyer, and as a rebuttal to those that deride the autostick.
Grats on your AS may she give you many more miles of love and affection as it sounds like you will give her the same.
And yes your Crazy.... like a fox. ;)
Hiya auto,
Welcome!
As you will find out, we won't believe it until we see pictures. Hows about posting up a couple pictures of that new KG?

Hiya Sean,
Whoops, guess I didn't connect the dots!
Congratulations on Your New purchase....
Karmann Ghias are rare and Expesive here in Australia
as they only sold a few in 1959-1960...
a lot have been imported since...
but they are rare to see... except at a VW Show,,,
