Can anyone tell me if part number 113905205AH is the correct VW part number for the dizzy that would have been fitted as stock to my car, Im running a 009 at the moment and would like to change.
Cheers

Hiya Air,
Yep, a 205AH would have been the stock distributor for a 71 Type 1.
Did you notice that there is a complete listing of distributors and carburetors for AutoSticks in the Technical Information forum?
Sorry Mike didnt look there :-[
Airhead
Hiya Air,
No problem!
But I thought you might want to know that was there for possible future use.

Is the Bosch part number for a compatible replacement i.e
VW Parts Number 113 905 205AH
Bosch Parts Number 0 231 167 053
Airhead
Hiya Air,
They are the same beast.
When VW bought the Bosch made distributor they had to give it a VW parts number, hence the 205AH designation. Because a good many VW distributors end with 205, it's become rather common to refer to them as 205Ts, or 205Ms, or 205AHs depending, of course, on their alpha suffixes.
Airhead,
They don't come up for sale all that often so keep your eyes peeled, especially on TheSamba classifieds. Mikes SVDA (Aircooled.net) or a Mexican Bosch 113 905 205ZB are good replacements.

Indeed, they are! I can especially recommend the aircooled SVDA. Great unit!
My first choice is almost always the stock unit though. If you cannot find a suitable 205AH, take a look at these two alternatives.
Mike,
At the rate I snaffle them when they do appear, it'd probably be a rare thing ;D . But have no fear Airhead, I've bought my last one!
