You may not know but every time I take My engine apart...
I repaint it.. sometimes different colors...
so, here is the latest photo...

After putting My tinware and fan shroud back on...
and cleaning the carburetor out
replacing spark plugs and leads etc..
My engine would NOT go...
it would turn over OK..
but My Voltage meter was dropping below 10 volts..
it seems My battery had a bad cell...
Replaced the battery and starts immediately..
here is My engine in a color which I think really looks great..
was taken at night in flourescent light...

First off, I like what you've done with engine bay. It's an original approach to what is normally quite boring. I also think it makes for a nice metaphor, even if it may not have been intended that way.
Metaphor you may being asking? Sure. I think that it is striking that you have focused on the insides of your car. The outside seems standard for anyone walking by. But when you open the deck lid, your bright colors are revealed. Much like one could do with their own person. Put on a dull façade to those they are not familiar with and really open up to those that are close to themselves. In effect, showing ones true colors.

I suppose you are correct... although I've never ever thought about it that way.. lol
under My beetle is the same... blue axles..green cv joint bolts , blue cvs s..etc..
even yellow cv joint boots.

My Beetle is going as good as it ever has.... lol
I'm enjoying driving it during the 20C++ sunny days We are having
during this Winter... [although its -1C overnight]
My New Battery is going great...
and My old Battery is also going great in My Sons Beetle... lol...
the points were the problem...
firstly the rubbing block had worn right down
and was shorting out.....
then I switched over to a new condensor and new points
but the points were burnt badly within a few days..???
so, I've hooked up My High Energy Electronic Ignition again..
with New points and its going like a dream..... lol

Hi Folks,
well I'm still having electrical problems with My beetle...
I still haven't done the fusebox upgrade as yet...
My beetle can stop at any time on the highway..
usually around 80KMH... tacho just drops to zero..
but when i stop.. the engine still idles perfectly..... ??
I'm using standard grade unleaded gas for the first time...approx 89 octane
and it seems to be going better than on 95 or 98 octane...
I still have the 009 timed at 32 degrees at maximum revs...
My beetle seems to go much better...
and I can do 100+KMH much easier than before....
also it seems that I'm getting better MPG too....
Can all this be true????
