Title: Day Trip along the Delaware
Post by: TheZooniverse on 08 March 2010, 06:45
Hope this is ok to post, and don't mind my grammar, I'm a painter not a writer!  ;)

Well, it was finally a nice day Valerie[my lovely girlfriend] and I decided it was time to go for a drive. The plan was to do a cruise up rte. 29 from South Jersey all the way up to Frenchtown, Nj along the Delaware River. But to get to the starting point near Washington's Crossing State Park, was a drive all by itself.

With a turn of the key, our '68 fluttered to life, rumbling gently as it stirred from it's slumber, with a flick of the wrist, we were in gear, ready to set off, A man who like to sing " Milk Milk Lemonade, Around the Corner Fudge Is Made" and a woman who is short enough to be representing the Lollipop Guild. We set off on our adventure.

We headed down route 22 towards Princeton, 22/206 was pretty quiet for a bit, when we hooked up onto 206, and did some lovely sight seeing along the way.

-Valerie the Co-pilot/Navigator for the journey-

By the time we got down to Washington's Crossing, it was 1pm. We made a stop to look at the Park's Visitor Center and Museum.

- A dirty bug in desperate need of a wash at the park. -

They has a small collection of Revolutionary War  pieces, and signs that said "Do Not Feed Bears". After seeing the sign, I had an urge to feed bears, but luckily they weren't around, so tragedy and/or comedy gold was avoided. After that stop and a few peeks at the directions, we were back on the road, heading up rte. 29 toward Frenchtown.

- an awesome scenery for an awesome day -

If anyone is ever looking for some awesome beauty to fill there senses i'd suggest hitting up rt. 29, you get such a gorgeous view of the river and the PA side of the river, and just cruising through this area really made our day, and def made us come out of our winter slump.

It was such an amazing section of our trip, and this road literally looked that amazing the entire way up through Frenchtown, even going through some of the towns along the river were amazingly beautiful. Besides that we also stopped by a antique flea market, they had things, like swords, You always need swords!

After stopping for food in Frenchtown, we hopped backinto the car and down backroads through to High Bridge and Califon, come across a few pretty ponds and this HUGE froze lake, it was pretty surreal,

and was gorgeous, we could of stayed and watched it for hours, but we had a schedule to keep to get back before darkness.

Sadly our trip had to come to an end, and we also didn't have many other photographs so needless to say our trip ended as a greatly enjoyable experience

only thing i regret is we didn't have other cars with us, would be nice to eventually do it with two or 3 cars for group adventure next time.  ;)

Hiya Zoo,

Well, the frozen lake reminded me that it is still winter.  But the weather looked fantastic!  I was expecting a couple feet of snow after all that I'd heard about the weather woes back east.

And if we haven't already said it ..................... that is one lovely looking Bug you have there!

Thanks for the pictures.  They brightened up my day.

Great pictures and car! I'd be up for a cruise. But if you check out our members map, we're a group spread out across the better part of the globe.
