Title: Diagnosis of shifting issue - electrical 73 Ghia
Post by: Vince123 on 26 June 2021, 18:10
The Auto stick in my 1973 Ghia will not shift - The clutch will not engage. I have bench tested the control valve and it is working. I checked all the hoses on the vacuum system and they all seem to be good - Also as the system was working before I pulled the fuse box to make a headlight repair and immediately after this is when the problem started I think the issue is electrical.

How can I test if the power is getting to the control valve? Is it positive wire always live?

Also How can I test the wiring from the shifter?

Update - there was power at the fuse but none at the control valve - I replaced the fuse even though it appeared good and re seated all the connections on the appropriate fuse holder and it works. Problem solved.

I realize I had no replies to this post but it was the old posts and knowledge shared that helped me out.

If anyone is interested in a 73 ghia Conv autostick let me know - I may have garage space issues at the end of the summer
