wheels spin while in nuetral

I've been trying to adjust the servo arm to get my 71 ghia to shift through all the gears as I was having issues doing so (see my posts on won't come out of gear when stopped).

First of all, all vacuum lines are new and properly reinforced.  When I hit the shifter, I can see the servo pulling the clutch arm in.

I jacked the car up so the rear wheels were off the ground, and then started the car in nuetral.  When the car started, the rear wheels began to spin.  I wouldn't expect that when the car is not in gear.  What is going on there?

I assumed the clutch arm on the server needed adjustment, so I began loosening the locking nut, and backing the sleeve out.  I backed the locking nut out as far as possible, and then backed the adjusting sleeze out as far as possible until it touched the locking nut.  Still, the rear tires spin when the car runs in nuetral.

However, after adjusting the sleeze that far out, I am now able to shift through all the gears.

1) is it normal for the rear wheels to turn when off the ground, and the car is in nuetral.
2) If I have this adjusting sleeve backed all the way out, what does that signify?  That my clutch is bad?  Or, that my clutch is really new?  I'm concerned that I have this sleeve adjusted as far as it can go, and I have no further adjustment should the car stop shifting again.

Thanks for any feedback.

I am not sure about the adjustment part of the question, but yes, the wheels will spin while in neutral and the wheels off the ground.  I am not sure why, but somehwere, I remember us being informed of the reason they do.

Hi Folks
Yes, the wheels do spin when the rear axles are off the ground..
when in neutral.. I don't remember why however..
but Mine did all the time I was restoring it.. lol
yet, the engine isn't connected to the gearbox directly
only thru the torque converter..
anyone know if manual cars do this??
