Adjusting a auto-stick

How do you adjust an auto-stick?  When I put my 74 super beetle into reverse and hit the gas it stalls and it sounds like something is dragging? Please help.

Does it do it in any other gear???
Reverse is the first gear to cause clutch problems
the clutch servo adjuster needs to be adjusted correctly to select reverse
once that can be done without crunching..
the other gears are OK..
If the other gears are OK and You can actually select reverse OK
but it wont move the car...
It sounds like gearbox problems to Me... NOT GOOD
