I know Belmetric.com is a source but they only sell to wholesalers.

Is there another source for the 12 mm ID stuff?

Thanx

Hiya Larry,

We have had contributors post that while Belmetric is a wholesaler they will sell to individuals if you call them up.  I imagine if you call them they will either agree to sell to you or, at the very least, give you the location of a retailer which you can access.

Sean mentioned a while back that he was under the impression that Wurth was also handling the braided 12mm reinforced stuff.  I have not yet checked them out, but that also might be worth your time.

That's it (AFAIK) for the suggestions which might pop up stock OEM hose for your application.  If you are not concerned about a strictly stock appearance, you could visit a local hydraulics shop.  They will have a product which will exceed specifications and function well.

Hiya Again Larry,

Just a quick ps to my reply above...................

Do let us know how you make out on the hosing.  It would be nice (Hey!  I gotta buy some of this stuff later on this year) to know where you went and how much it cost.

I used that wonderful tool, Google, and got to this link:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/shopcart/911M/POR_911M_FULmot_pg9.htm#item36

Pelican is a Porsche parts supplier.  Part No. N-020-290-1-M149.  Have it on order, 12mm ID x 17 mm OD.  $13 US per meter.  I'll let you all know if it's the right stuff.

And if you look here: http://www.wurthusa.com/project/en/leftnavi/catalog/product.php?path=07.0161.jpg you can see that Wurth USA carries something as well; wire reinforced, 12 mm ID x 19 mm OD, black, but it's not clear to me if they will sell retail.

Update on the Pelican Products stuff, it arrived today.

It looks like good quality, and in looks anyway is very nearly the original color, size and outer covering.  OD is 17 mm.  The original hose clamps can be used if the screws are backed almost all the way out.  Made In Germany.

It is NOT wire reinforced, but it is rigid wall.  The inner wall is ~2mm thick rubber.  The hose can be compressed a bit (20-30%) with moderate finger pressure but would take a bit of effort to collapse it completely.  Remains to be seen what level of vacuum it could hold but it looks OK.

Comparing to the original, the wall thickness was perhaps 1 mm.  This hose is wire reinforced.  I think it is plain rubber on the inside, followed by a layer of wiring reinforcing (the wire does not appear to be embedded in the rubber layer) and then the outer cloth braiding.  Walls appear to be quite a bit more rigid (can't compress them much with the fingers) but that could be dry rotting making them inelastic.  OD is 19 mm.

Oh well we'll see...

it sounds good to Me...
I just used transmission oil hose without any problems.
it probably won't last that long
but it does seem good quality hose..

I've found that the small vacuum hose and fuel hose made from
standard over the counter oil resistant hose
don't last long at all..  they crack where they are bent..
