Is there a lever or button inside of the car that opens up the gas nozzle door? I have a 1971 Karmann Ghia Coupe

Hiya 007,

Right off the bat, please understand that I do not have a KG - never did.  So, I am not speaking from experience here.

IT is my understanding that you have a gas flap pull located over in the space by the passenger's right knee.  You should see a small rubber handle.  Give that a gentle pull and your gas flap should pop open.

The rubber handle often breaks and it may have been tossed out by a PO.  It is available from a number of online dealers.  Hereit is......

And know that it is the same one used in Bugs.

The mechanism that runs through the body to the gas flap catch is also available....take a look....

Also, do you know how to move the seat of a '71 ghia forwards and backwards? There should be a place because here are tracks for it.

There should be a lever at the front of the seat base... on the RHS
You pull the lever up and push the seat backwards or forwards..
there should be a spring that helps push it forward
{I just remembered I'll have to fit those springs on my beetle]

I'm also guessing that the seats are similar to a beetle..

71 Karmann Ghia - fuel flap knob -
a rubber D shaped handle was used in Beetles around that time..
somehow many of these D handles have been broken off..
how this happens i don't know..?

cheers
