I live in central Mississippi.  I am a student at MSU and right now I live in starkville.  I would love to go, but with all of the stuff that is going on, I would have to plan way in advance.  Still, the thought of a VW vacation with nothing to do but scrounge thru cars and parts... that would be a true vacation!!!

But a VW show/swap is the very best of places to be when you are in-project.  Tell you what...........take a look at a schedule of shows (the Samba has a good one) and see if there is something closer to you than Texas.  Say, Memphis or Birmingham.  If there is something scheduled closer to you, let us know.  There's a possibility that somebody here has already been there and might be able to give you the lowdown.

I had a type 3 Variant [squareback] for many years back in the 70s...

I don't think I've seen any type 3s with ragtops over here...

Ragtops [sunroofs here] were Not very common in Australia in Anything..

I wouldn't like to be the person cutting the hole in the roof...

I believe You need to reinforce the roof when fitting a ragtop...\
as You lose all the roof strength...

I love Swapmeets..  I have bought heaps of spares for My beetle at them...

and i have to travel 200kms - 450 kms to attend any...

I have always been in My other car -- Mitsubishi..

this will be My first time in My beetle.... 3 or 4 to go to this year..
