Gear Diagrams? Can I get a sticker anywhere?

I have a 68 semi auto but the gear shift sticker is gone from the ashtray.

I have been looking on the samba but with the cost of shipping etc it works out too expensive to get another ashtray from the states. Any that go on sale in the UK on ebay go for over £25.

So does anyone know where I could get a sticker from rather than another ashtray?

Hiya Stu,

Another problem that you may have not realized is that the dash for for a USA spec car is "padded".  Consequently, the ashtray from a USA spec car has a pebblegrain vinyl covering.  The gearshift diagram is actually embossed into that vinyl covering rather than being a sticker.  In short, it's a good thing that you decided not to buy USA;  I think you would have been disappointed.

There was some talk here of reproducing the gearshift sticker some time ago.  This was from a chap down in Australia.  Corncob I think his name was.  I also recall that he was offering these stickers for sale.  However Stu, this was before the Volkswagen Automatic Register was reorganized and he is no longer a current member.

Perhaps Sean or Lee can give you a line on this guy.

            The guy (Damien AKA KillaKornKob on Aussieveedubbers) made a batch about 2 and bit years ago. I've got one spare (black) I could send to you. You'll (or a random grandchild) owe me a Hogshead of Scrumpy's if I ever cross the pond again...
I'm fairly certain Lee knows of another guy that does them (either on Fleapay Aus or on Aussieveedubbers). PM Lee and pick his brains.
