250kms to a VW Show and then back home.. Beetle stopped? YES BUT Not For Long.

Well,
I drove 250kms ,leaving home at 530am and arriving at 10am..

I met up with 4 other beetles

and We had a few stops along the way...

Here is a pic of the 5 beetles... Mine the only Autostick..

Your bug looks great!  I can't wait to make the drive this summer to a local show. The body on my 73 is no where near the state yours is in though. For now I'm focusing on the mechanicals. Cheers.

the funny thing was, that I drove thru rain a few times
so My beetle wasn't really that clean...   lol...

and as I hadn't entered into the Show & shine

I just left it...  up close you could see some dirt marks around the side windows..

but it still looked oK, so having a color that doesn't show the dirt is great...   lol

My Beetle stopped as temperatures dropped on a mountain range...
the carburetor and inlet manifold were frozen...
it seems my preheater pipe on the inlet manifold is now blocked....

so I had to stop the cold air entering My engine bay

and this is what I did...

I will be driving My Beetle to the largest VW show in Australia on 1st August 2008
about 500 kms each way..
Looking forward to it, as this will be the first time in My beetle
even though I've been going for about 12 years

Love the defroster Lee, Don't think I will have to worry about that here in Texas, but it gives us options if we do.

I was just concentrating on getting the engine compartment [and engine] as cool
as it could be....

forgot about the approaching winter...   lol

Car is going fine now...

We have temps of around 100F+ most summers
but also 32F and below during winter....

Our winters if we get them are cold, but there have been some years where we wore shorts at Christmas. I've always wanted to go to Australia, guess this is the closest I will ever come.
