Hiya Jon,

Welcome to the forum.

This is definitely the place to be if you are having any issues (most of us do - sooner or later) with your AutoStick.  On the proactive side, be sure to get yourself a good shop manual.  Bentley is the preferred manual, but over in the UK, I'd imagine you have easier access to a Haynes.  And a piece of unasked for advice (I know the MOT will look at this closely, but.......) be sure the number one priority on your fixit list are the brakes, followed closely by the fuel system.

Keep us updated and best of luck.

Welcome Jon
You can't have too many manuals...
I have about 10 different ones...
Haynes manuals are good I have found, along with My blue Bentley Manual
which is for 1968 Beetles.
There are some pages of how the Autostick works on My websites.

Sorry for the late response to the last post!
Great news - as of the 10th August, my Bug became road legal!
She's now on the road, and I've christened her 'Pepper'. Not after the Neighbours lass, but because after I first bought the car, I spent a week wondering what the weird smell was in the cockpit - and eventually found a mouldy red pepper under the passenger seat. Thanks to the previous owner!
So Pepper it is!
68AutoBug - had a look at your pages, some great stuff in there, thanks very much!
My next task is to raise the ride height at the front, as there is too much weight on the front shocks at the moment. Then try and work out how the hell to get my driver's side window to close all the way. It's stuck about an inch below being closed. I've heard this is a common problem. I shall check out the manuals. At least we're having good weather in the UK for a change, so it's not raining in!
I'll post some more pics soon.

Ciao for now! - Screech (aka Jon)
