First of all, I'd like to give a quick thanks for everyones feedback on my "rough idle". Though it did not turn out to be what we originaly thought, the process brought about the new vacuum hoses, and that is a very good thing.
In my hours of scanning through various posts, I kept seeing references to which port to hook up to for vacuum from the carb. Mine has been hooked to the lefthand port on the backside of the carb but that's where it was when I became the cars newest guardian. The carb is a Brosol 34PICT3 (if you have one get rid of the float that came with it!!!) and it already had the righthand port installed. No drilling required. Only problem was it is a smaller diameter, so I rummaged around the house and stole a small piece of hose from the fishtank, that fit the port, and in turn my vacuum hose fit on that, nice and snug. I cannot give enough thanks for this Info ;D
I now know what driving this car is all about. I used to grit my teeth every time I put the car in gear to the sound of CRUNK, and terrifying sudden leap forward. Now, after adjusting the vacuum control, it shifts as beautifully and smoothly as any modern car ;)

Hiya 71,

Welcome to the stage of AutoStick ownership we refer to as "Enlightenment".

It's too bad really that there are a lot of AutoStick owners out there who give up on their cars never realizing that fixes are very easy.

71,
Amazing what correct application of vacuum does for you!....now, since you have a 34 Pict 3 can we play "Guess the distributor" ;D .
