will the vacuum pipe in the inlet manifold be OK if its horizontal ???

Yes, the engine needs a breather hose...
although one from the oil filler downwards will be OK..

I did use a chromed air filter with a foam filter for a while
but oil fumes did go up the hose into the oil filter....

so, a hose going downwards thru the hole in the tinware
will do the job...
