Newbe to the site with dead 01M tdi automatic

Lost all forward gears while driving. I let off on the gas and when i re accelerated the engine just reved. Disconnected the electronic control module as I was told it defaults to hydraulic, feels as though it wants to move but barely goes anywhere. Reverse works just fine. Any help greatly appreciated.

You need to know that the focus of this website is the AutoStick transmission found in Volkswagen air-cooled vehicles from 1968 through 1976.  That's really the center of the technical experience and expertise of the members here.

But someone here may have some experience with the later fully automatic transmissions from Volkswagen.
