Dave

I just registered so thought i'd say hello.

My girlfriend has a 1973 Auto in storage at the moment, colour is orange I believe, i've not seen the car itself yet but i'm told it's currently on axle stands and needs various bits doing to it, not too sure on the details but i'm sure I will know more eventually.  She is determined that it WILL be her daily drive when it's back on the road.  It's just going to take time and a slow spending spree.  As soon as I have some pics i'll share them with you all.

Dave.

Hiya Dave,

Welcome to the "Outer Limits" of the Volkswagen world.

Lotsa information about the AutoStick on this site.  In fact we have a 73 AS (hercdriver) in the middle of a rebuild right now.  Pictures are always welcome!  We hope this site helps you and your girlfriend get her back in her car.

yes. please post some pictures. I'd love to share any info that could help.

I've got the engine being rebuilt at the moment and hope to have the car back on the road this summer. You really couldn't have found a more helpful forum for your car. These guys have taken me from absolutely no knowledege to slightly more than that. It really speaks volumes of them, considering what they have to work with (me).

I would particuarly like to see the engine compartment. (mine's a mess)

Well, 2 years on, no progress as yet apart from some heavy reading of the Haynes manual !  Should be getting a professional to look at the bodywork this year, we should be starting the engine for the first time in 9 years within the next month or so.

We're in the UK, near Manchester.  Our Bug is RHD so quite rare from what i've been reading, needs quite a lot of bodywork doing but will be worth it !
