I just had my Autostick rebuilt by JustVeedubs in San Diego and they also rebuilt my Torque converter. After waiting 2 months to get the tranny back, it doesn't work. If you take the wheels off the ground the tranny works, as soon as you lower the car it starts making grinding noise and the car doesn't move. I removed the torque converter and the inner two spines move around, is this normal for a fresh rebuilt torque converter? it moves about 1/4-5/16 of and inch. any help from anyone would be helpful. Also I don't recommend using the shop I used, very unprofesional and take forever to get your trans back....then it doesn't work!
Hiya AS68,
Like you I just had my AutoStick transmission completely rebuilt, including the torque converter. Unlike yours, mine turned out to be an excellent job. The shop I used gets a bunch of transaxle rebuilding business from the PNW and they are well-known on a nationwide basis. I visited their shop while they redid my tranny. Wow! These guys are pros!
The reason I mention this is that you may want to give them a call. I found the owner, Ken Harvey, to be a great guy who was more than willing to take some time to explain the insides of the beast to me. He may be able to give you a line into what's troubling your transaxle.
