Title: brake and throttle foot rubbers
Post by: herbie on April 21, 2004, 11:17:47 AM
Hi

I have just acquired vw stick shift with much work to do on bodywork.

Also foot pedal rubbers are badly worn.

does anyone know of suppliers for these pedal rubbers???

I would be interested to hear of repair work necessary when heater channels are rusted through, how are these repaired and what hoses are required or necessary to reinstate heating system??

Thanks

Herbie

Hiya herbie,

Your post makes me want to clarify something...........

Do you have a VW with an AutoStick transmission or a regular manual transmission?  That will make a big difference in answering your question concerning the pedal rubbers.

On the other hand, replacement of the heater channels is usually a body-off operation which will involve a good deal of welding.  The hoses to hook up your heating system are all available.

Hi Mike

My beetle has a semi automatic gearbox and is a 1500 cc engine, the accelerator pedal is an organ type pedal and the brake pedal is quite wide. There is no clutch pedal.[img]

I do not know how to send photos of my car

Hiya Herbie,

In that case you have a problem.  The remaining stock of these pedal rubbers (to fit the enlongated brake pedal) was purchased by West Coast Metric back in the eighties.  They, in turn, packaged the rubber pads and sold them.  I bought one of these WCM rubber pads about two years ago and I was told at that time that WCM had run of their stock and that was the last one.
So far as I know that is the end of the road for these pads.  I do see them on occassion at VW shows and swap meets.  That might be your best bet if you want an original rubber pad.  Otherwise you're going to have to see if you can adapt something else to fill your need.

Hi,
My Pedal rubbers are good, but I purchased a few weeks ago a nice aluminum pair of pedal covers with rubber inserts..
from a  Large Super market...  You should be able to find a set of these either there or at an Auto parts shop...
Maybe at JC Whitney...etc..
