Has anyone tried to rebuild an oil / AT pump? What's involved?
there are 2 oil seals that sit in the intermediate plate between the two pumps... Engine oil & ATF on either sides....
the oil seals are 14mm x 22mm x 4mm thick... 2 used - they sit back to back... I used a small amount of gasket cement on the outer parts of the oil seals.. they slide in better and seal better... then add a small amount of engine oil in the oil seal inner surface and Auto transmission fluid on the inner surface of the ATF seal....'
Seals should be lubricated before being used otherwise they will wear prematurely...
the dual oil pump gears shouldn't be worn , but the plate can get scored... in which case You can get the plate machined to perfection ....
Minor scoring shouldn't be a problem either....
The normal pressure for the ATF fluid is 56.5 PSI...
The torque converter oil seal [special VW oil seals- ]
should be replaced [and lubricated] every time its disturbed....
They are available from CIP1 : VWC-001-301-083B seal
plus 2 gaskets : VWC-111-115-111B and VWC-111-115-131B
will also be needed........ You can apply a very thin coating of gasket cement to these gaskets... the cement also helps holding them in place...
