I currently have a brazilian fuel pump fitted to '69 auto Beetle. Recently fuel started leaking from the screw that holds the top cover on. Does anyone know if there should be a fibre washer of some sort under the screw? I have just fashioned a washer out of scrap leather (!) and it seems to have worked. I would like to replace the pump with an original VW type. Is it a pieburg or something: where can they be bought in the UK. Any other suggestions.
I am trying to make sure any parts I replace won't let me down in the future.
