Hi folks,
I am planning to paint the case on my autostick tranny. I've degreased it, now I see it needs a good prep. What is the case material - is it magnesium like the engine cases?
Thanks,
Larry
Achilles,

I am going to use Eastwood Alluma Blast.
Hi,
I just used engine enamel in pressure pack cans...
I painted Mine red and yellow...
My transaxle wasn't too dirty, I used a wire brush to clean it..
and a round wire brush in My electric drill...
Paint has stayed on although it was painted around 10 years ago, the
car has only done about 700kms..
there should be a photo of it in My websites...
red and Yellow... are the colors..

Sorry I couldn't post a pic of My transaxle , but I did happen to succeed -Once Only -- in posting a pic of My car on here...
I haven't got a clue how to do it now...
Maybe One day...

thanks for the feedback all.
68: As to posting images inside a post, there's instructions in the FAQ (click the FAQ hypertext at the top of the page). As such
I would have thought the following would work but it doesn't somehow:

As to my tranny case, it was absolutely filthy, but the degreaser got 99% of that...now it's just a bit splotchy, nothing I'm sure the wire brush in the mini-grinder won't fix.
Careful with the grinder, that case is magnesium and if you get it too hot, it will burn violently!
