Title: So, How Does One Measure.............
Post by: bookwus on June 03, 2003, 02:25:25 AM
Hiya All,

I took my control valve apart.  I wanted to clean it out and inspect all the internal parts.  Everything looked great.  However, Bentley says that the dome of the spacer should be 0.30 to 0.40 mm above the floor of the valve housing chamber.  Well I got my caliper and attempted to measure the difference.  The problem is that the spacer sits atop the diaphragm and it moves whenever one tries to measure it.  And with the small (VERY small) distance one has to measure, doing this accurately seems to be close to impossible.  Any tips or ideas out there?

Mike

Sorry, No ideas here Mike...
VW probably have a special tool to measure at those tolerances.
I have 7 VW different manuals, but I don't have a Bentleys....  are they better value than the others Mike?   Bentleys was VW of America's official Workshop manual as You know but they aren't common in Australia.
Would You be able to scan and send Me some pages from the Bentleys manual on the Control valve?   and anything else You think I may need.
Anything will be welcomed.    vk2lee@maxnet.net.au
