Title: autotrany torque converter question
Post by: bugman33 on December 19, 2006, 03:45:35 PM
i have a 1971 super bug with an automatic shift.when i got the car it had no motor but it came with some of the motors automatic parts.
when i put a motor in i got some torq converter bolts from cip1
but the head appears small to me.where it buts up against the torq converter to the presser plate and appears lose in the hole
but threads in the flex plate. will the bolts hold the thrust of the motor or should there be a bushing or lock washer

There should be a flare just below the head of the bolt.  If not, I would use a washer or get some correct bolts.  Also,  use blue loctite on the threads & tighten to 18ft/lbs.
