I just got ahold of a 74 w/Auto and she is missing the engine... They just cut the vacum lines and what looks like atf lines. From wHat I can tell, there is an ATF pump on the engine that I am now missing??? What is this and does it require a special engine or just a bolt on part??? Help!

You are absolutely correct in your assumption concerning the ATF pump. The ATF pump is actually a combination oil/ATF pump. In other words, engines mated with the AutoStick transmission have a special oil pump. Finding an AutoStick oil pump can be tricky, but they are out there. The oil/ATF pump is bolted onto the engine exactly as a regular oil pump would be mounted in a manual transmission set-up. Of course the ATF lines will need to be connected up to the pump also.
Also you will need a special intake manifold to supply the vacuum needs for the clutch servo.

I'd be VERY wary of GEX. In all the time I've been plowing through VW related forums (about seven years now) I have yet to see any positive comments concerning GEX. In point of fact their name is synonomous with poor quality.
On top of that, I looked at cjmck422's comments and searched the GEX website for AutoStick oil pumps. I couldn't find any. Even if they are there, my advice is to stay a long ways away from GEX
GEX has the reconditioned pumps but $249 is out ragious for the part. On the Samba right now are several used ones for sale, Ebay has one this morning was $5 or something. CIP1 list rebuit ones for $100 with a $20 core charge. Or check Marks bug barn for a used one.

Yes, used ones work OK... You will also need an Automatic VW starter motor.. these were also used in type 3 & Kombi autos [not sure what model kombis] they are just a shortened version of the VW starter, but have a bearing in the shaft end, as there is NO bush in the Bell housing for the shaft to go.. Also: You will need the Drive plate which bolts to the flywheel of the engine,[ & the special nut that holds it on,] and the torque converter which hopefully will be tied to the gearbox... and the 4 bolts for the torque converter.. [Hi Tensile allen headed bolts will do]
The starter motors are also called High Torque starters.. and are still available New .. in the USA..
Is the vacuum contol valve still on the LHS of the engine bay??
It should have 3 x 12mm vacuum hoses.. One connects to the manifold just below the carburetor... You could possibly have this connection made to fit any manifold, as many people run twin carbs in their auto sticks... plus a small vacuum hose also goes from the carby to the control valve....
