Hiya Dean,
Welcome to the family!
I have always liked Cobalt Blue. All of my VWs are from the 1970 production year. I just "donated" a Cobalt Blue bug to a "good cause". It looks as if you have a Bug with a lot of promise.
A question for you........what part of the country are you in?

1970 AS Bug
I'm in Western Pennsylvania, the Beetle is from California tho. :D
Ok well the bug has flown along this summer, too bad my digital camera has been in the shop for 4 months. So sad to say there are no pics of body work, primer, paint, etc.... As far as how far along it is, the paint is good and dry, we have 3 fenders on with all the electrical hooked up, some chrome is on, and the front and rear window are getting ready to come out to put the new headliner in. The 4th fender is waiting on the vaccum tank to be painted, which oddly enough had gas in the bottom of it. Guess we will need to adjust the carb. Once that is done it is put the glass back in, carpet, the new door panels, and reupolsetered seats. Now we are tinting the rear windows and have one piece side windows. I have heard bad things about the seals but this is the look we want and this car is not going to be a daily driver (sadly enough). There is an engine on the stand ready to be rebuilt, its from a 74 AS Ghia, which is the winter project. When I get my camera back I will be adding some photos to my link as soon as I can.

Nice Car. My dad had the exact same car when I was a kid growing up. It was a '70, same color blue and an AS. He bought the AS because my mom could not drive a manual.
I remember being with him when he bought it new in '70 at the VW dealer. I also remember him being very annoyed at having to pay full sticker price for the car. VWs were a hot commodity back in those days. Dealers could get full sticker price. My mom wanted the car so dad gave in.
It was a good little car - never gave any problems.
Good Luck!
