Title: Flex plate
Post by: dmc on December 22, 2003, 03:26:43 AM
I just recently aquired an engine from a 74 ghia and noticed that the person that pulled it cut into the flex plate with what looks like a grinder in order to seperate if from the torque converter?.  :(  God knows what they were thinking.  I am wondering if anyone has a flex plate for sale or knows where I can aquire one.  Also, from the research I've done, all 4 mounting points on the engine are supposed to be threaded for bolts and one on the engine is not (upper left if looking at rear of engine)  :?

Hiya Dean,

I see you are getting down to the project.  Good luck to you!

Insofar as flex plates go.............if you follow some of the forums you will occassionally find AS parts for sale.  e-Bay is also a possibility.

However, there is a quicker (probably better) route to go.  Try an online VW salvage yard.  I have seen only good reviews for Way-Out Auto Salvage down in Kingston, Arkansas.  And personally speaking, I've been very happy with them.  Nice folks - good service.  They should have the parts.
