I have got twin carbs on my auto, any set that will fit a manual beetle will do, the engines are essentially the same, the semi just has a few more bits to cater for the semi auto side of things.

There is normally a vacuum bit on the carbs already, you might need to modify the pipe a bit but it should be relativly straightforward.

Yes, you don't need vast amounts of vacuum

can't tell you yet - see my other posts, I only had the rebuilt car on the road for 5 days before I seized the engine so haven't had a chance to give it some mileage + I never had it with the original carb set up, I rebuilt and installed it with twin from the start

Kadrons - just normal stuff
If I am honest I don't think you are going to get a vast amount out of it with twin or single, the semis weren't really designed for performance. It will improve it but don't spend too much money on it.

Yes I believe from what I have read that You will get better performance from twin carbies as they are just above the inlet manifold..
The single carby setup used on VWs is very restricting by the long way the vapourised fuel has to travel...
and fuel consumption may be better or only very slightly more, as with early type 3s that had a single or dual carbies.. about 5 hp more...approx.. this is different if You run Large carbies with large jets etc... Webbers etc...

I have a kit car. I bought it recently and really love the thing. It replicates a 1929 Mercedes. I was told that it was built on a karmen Gia but I have no way to know for certain. Would you know how to prove it one way or another?
I just went to your website and realized that your car is a porsch kit. Mind telling me where your gas tank is? Mine is in the rear and I have a real problem with fuel sloshing out. I think I may have to have a custom tank built with proper baffles...
Hey Guys, Got an e-mail from scat. They say they have two kits(dual carbs) for the semi. Dual solex 35's with e-chokes & weber 34 ict'c (no chokes). think I'll get the solex's. and a single q- pack Exaust ! a little extra power !!!!!! :lol: :lol:

I keep forgetting that I kept My engine as a single port, even though its now a 1600cc. I didn't think that You could use twin carburetors with the semi auto and their Vacuum hoses.. etc
I do have a spare 1600 twin port engine with twin kadrons... I may have to do some work on that...
Did You know that single port engines have MORE torque than the twin port engines...?

Bumping up this old topic to see if anyone else is running duals. I picked up a used set of Kadrons (Solex Brosol H 40 DEIS) with the dual port intakes. The intakes are still attached to the carbs at this point.
Looking at the carbs, each has what appears to be a vac port on the base, to the left of the fuel pump. Directly below that, on the intakes, is another set of ports. I don't know what these are for, but, a hose runs from each of them to a "T" fitting.
So, if I wanted to attempt to install these in my AS bug, would it be correct to:
1.) Connect the small vac line from the control valve to one (or both with a "T" fitting) of the ports on the base of the carb.
2.) Connected the large vac line from the control vavle to the "T" fitting for the large ports on the intakes?
