Jeff,
Check the seal on the trans, the early ones have the spring (garter) exposed on the outside.

www.cip1.com or www.evwparts.com if you are in the USA.

For your torque converter, either try the classifieds on www.thesamba.com or wander around the wreckers (junkyards).

Shipping will co$t as they are heavy but shouldn't be too bad if you are USA based.

If you're just looking for the seal, let me know.  I think I have a pair of early and late model seals on hand, new ones.

No problem.  I think I have 2 for the early models.  Can't use them on my '72, and it is going up for sale shortly anyhow.  Let me double check and get back to you.

Check Your engine oil too, as there are two small oil seals back to back in the oil pump/ ATF double pump....
If You have too much oil, it can be ATF fluid...
If its pouring out the bottom...
it should be the Torque converter oil seal....
and they should be renewed every time the torque converter is taken off.
[so I'm told]
although i think that is after the seal hardens up....
and the movement disturbs it... causing it top leak...
