Hey,
Can anyone guide me here?  I had a good working autostick, but the other day sitting at a light a sudden loud squealing noise started.  When the light changed I realized it was my bug and it was low gear.  I shifted it to high and it ran, but now on deceleration it sounds bad.  It shifts and holds in all gears but low.  It will shift into low, but pops out and makes this horrible squealing noise.  Since I have never worked on a transmission, I really don't know where to begin.  I know I have ATF fluid leaking, but all the fluid levels were fine.  Where do I begin before pulling the transmission?  Thanks for any help.

I believe that You will be needing another transmission...
they are NOT user friendly.. and many specialist tools are needed..
I would look for a replacement transmission..
Sounds bad.. and it will get worse....

Best of Luck

Well, I was hoping it would be something a little less expensive, but that's why I asked some of y'all.  Thanks for the reply.  Carol
