Crankshaft Pulley

I want to install a new crankshaft pulley to replace my rusted original and was considering a pulley with degree markings.

Considering that the Autostick combination engine oil/trans oil pump appears to protrude further from the engine block, is the Auto crankshaft pulley different (less shallow) than manual trans VW?  Can I order a pulley from any of the online catalogs and expect it to fit my VW and not jam tight into the tinwork?

No problem. The degreed pulleys of stock size are dimensionally the same as the stock one. Your choice is limited to colour, material and how many holes and price!

Just remember, power pulley & sand seal are types you DON'T want for a stock donk.

Thanks for your information.  Have you installed one and if so are you running your engine without the tin between the pulley and the block?  Or do you have a supplier you can recommend for a replacement pulley?  

www.cip1.com states that they cannot supply a pulley to fit autostick engines, and that I should try removing the tin piece and probably have to shave a bit off their pulley and maybe it will work.

I have 4 types at my place, EMPI aluminium, unknown brand one, a normal motors pulley and one on the autostick. I'll do measurement comparison's on them all.

Cobey, you are running a degree'd pulley right? Just an off-the-shelf part?

Yup, just an off the shelf pulley, and I had no problems with it.  All my tinwork is in, and I don't have any clearance issues with the pulley.  I can't remember who I got it from though.  I picked it up at a going out of business sale by one of the local VW shops.
