Vaccuum Lines

Hello again,

 I am in a bit of a quandry.  I have a 68 AS Beetle: Where does both the small hose of the contol servo and the vaccuum regulator go? It appears to me they both are supposed go to the carb., am I right?... but I only have one port for 2 lines... hmmm.

And speaking of the carb, what wire is hooked to the choke?

I have scoured over the manuals and haven't seen anything to answer my questions. I am still new to working with the Beetles (actually I am learning how to work on cars in general) and have some questions because I want to make sure I do it right.

 Any help would be appreciated!! And thank you!!!!!!

The choke should be hooked to the battery side of the coil.  Here is a source for wiring diagrams:

You want ported vacume going to the vacume control valve too override the clutch slow realease after shifting. You'll also have ported going to the vacume advance, and if you have a retard diaphram on the dist, manifold vacume goes to it. Does that help you at all ? Dennis

Yes, both the fuel cuttoff selonoid and the choke heater go to the positive terminal of the coil. They both get power whenever the key is on. Dennis

Sounds like He has a distributor with vacuum advance and only One vacuum port on His carburetor.

You will need another pipe from the carby or change the distributor for a Bosch 009 which doesn't have a vacuum advance...

You cannot use the same single port on the carby for two items, plus the vacuum control valve has its vacuum from a different part of the carby
than the vacuum advance on the distributor..
