offtopicish TDI conversion

Hi all,

after much consideration it seems that a transplant of motor from 1.9 wasserboxer to 1.9 TDi is the way to go on our Vanagon (type 25).  The Bus runs an auto tranny and although i can find info on the engine swap i am unable to find out if the autobox will retro fit to the later diesel engine? If not will any other autobxes fit?

we need auto due to a disability.  sorry if the water cooled bit is too off topic, dunno where else to ask.
