Can I take a Standard trannsmission beetle and convert it to AutoStick.
What parts will need? Is there a certain pan that is better than others for Auto Stick. If this isn't possible is therer anyone out there with an AutoStick Bug for sale, Any condition?

Hiya STROHMA,

Sure, you can assemble your own AutoStick.

Truth be told you can do almost anything if you pitch enough money at the project.  And that's the ringer in this case.  It's most likely going to cost you WAY more to assemble all the parts than it would to simply buy an AutoStick intact.  It may take a little looking around to find a good AutoStick, but the search will be worth the reward.

Hi,

What want to do is pretty much what I did when i built my car BUT the transmission (gearbox) is different so you will need a semi gearbox. Theres quite a few differences so getting a semi gearbox is going to be a lot easier.

You will also need the bits that are associated with it, torque converter, clutch servo and the starter motor are different + the control valve and tanks etc.

I would get a donor car if possible or acquire the bits from a breakers yard. The engines are the same, they just have the extra semi bits added too them such as the different oil pump.

It's not incredibly difficult but the hardest thing to get your head round when building from scratch is knowing what bits go where, I never had a example to build from so sometimes I was in the dark, once you have doe it though you will look at it and think "that wasn't so bad"

Just make sure you replace all the seals while it is in bits in front of you or you will end up having to pull it apart again like I did which is a real pain in the arse for something so simple and obvious, I blew an engine by not replacing a seal that cost a few pence.

Thanks for the INformation. I'm collecting parts now The car is totally stripped for rabuild so I figure on replacing any seals or rubber as it goes together. I did a Bronco a few yrs ago, only thing I didn't rebuild was the brakes. Now I'm fighting getting the brakes rebuilt with everything else in the way and wanting to drive it.

Plaaken I have an auto stick setup so presently I do not need any more parts. But I may need some when I get into switching it into a running car.
