To tow or not to Tow?

I'll be picking up a 71 Super w/autostick and was wondering if I can tow this vehicle.  It is a driver, but I don't want the first trip of 800 miles or so to be a maiden voyage.

Hiya Gleason,

There's really nothing special to know about towing an AS equipped vehicle.  Other than the obvious, "make sure it's in Nuetral" the only thing I'd add would be this..............

800 miles is a long ways to do a tow.  Lots can happen in those 800 miles.  Were it me, I'd invest in a towbar made expressly for towing the Bug.  And a good set of hazard lights.  I'd think you could scrounge up both of these items for less than $100US.  Cheap insurance.

I did plan on using either a two wheel dolley or a tow bar.  J just didn't know what this would do to a tranny to be towed.  Thanks.
