VW Beetle Automatic Gearbox problem

I have a 8 month old VW Beetle with auto gearbox and 60% of the time when I start the car in P mode I press the brake pedel and try to shift gear lever into drive and cant. The break light comes up on the dashboard and some times the EPS sign on the dash also stays on. To get over this problem I have been swithing the engine on and off until the problem clears. I have told the VW garage but they cant find ANYTHING wrong please can I have Some HELP!!!!!

I think that there is a problem with the control valve. Either an electric problem, or the electromagnet is wedged.

Is this an 8 month old NEW Beetle? Rosemary...
If So, it would be VERY Different to the transmission in our 1968 etc stick shift Beetles....   Sorry, We can't Help...
Write to VW and complain....
